"According to Statistics Canada, 56,790 grandchildren across the country were living with grandparents without a parent involved in 2001.  ... many grandparents feel isolated in their new child-rearing roles."

If your adult child becomes incapacitated or dies,
you do not automatically gain custody of your grandchildren.
Sometimes, depending on the age of the children
and whether or not they are adoptable
  will determine who gets custody.

Neglected to Death- Preventable deaths in nursing homes

Nursing home patients are dying from causes like malnutrition, dehydration and bedsores -- causes that could be prevented with proper care. But such cases are rarely investigated or prosecuted, and advocates say the suffering won't end without an outcry for reform.

Topics

Day 1 -- Nursing homes are killing thousands

Day 2 -- Inadequate staffing results in patient neglect

Day 3 -- Neglect can continue even after death

Day 4 -- Regulators are losing the fight against neglect

Hospice Patients Alliance
 http://www.hospicepatients.org

The Hospice Patients Alliance was formed in August of 1998 as a nonprofit charitable organization and is a 501(c)(3) corporation serving the general public throughout the United States. We were formed by experienced hospice staff and other health care professionals who saw that hospices were not always complying with the standards of care, and in fact, were in some cases, violating the rights of patients and families and exploiting them for financial gain, or not providing adequate care to control pain or other distressing symptoms during the end of life period.

My Family's concern at the present time is based upon the fact: SOCIAL SECURITY DOES NOT RECOGNIZE EITHER, POWER OF ATTORNEY OR GUARDIANSHIP.

We, as parents of our Autistic son of forty-seven years, now have a Durable Power of Attorney.  We have been informed that we no longer are to be trusted to handle his financial affairs

Subject: ELDER ABUSE - ASSET FORFEITURE - THE NEW HUMAN RESOURCES COMPANY

Elderly abuse is another aspect of the "abuse for profit" of the state/corporate agenda.  I am glad that AFRA is focusing on this aspect of the systemic fraud we are exposing already in the Human Resources depts. Along with Child and Family Services, and the overarching Dept. of Human Services, in collusion with Dept. of Housing and Community Services, the Oregon Health Plan, this abuse is being operated under it all by BAR attorneys and insurance underwriters.

Oh My People Will Love You Forever for this.  Will pass it on ASAP. We have spent long, agonizing, days, hours, weeks, years etc... exposing government corruption of the elderly.  Kids and elderly seem to be their fav targets because the gov knows or thinks they can get away with their crimes.

Scrimping on care

For the $92 billion spent annually on nursing homes, comparatively little goes to routine daily care.
