January 28, a very special day for our family, is coming soon. Our
daughter Anna Mae will be five years old on January 28.
Chinese New Year, the most important Chinese festival, is on January 22. In
Chinese culture, it is a special holiday for family reunion.
Our son, Andy, has come from China to live with us. He keeps asking about his
big sister, Anna Mae.
During these special days, we hope to have a picture taken of our entire family:
Anna Mae, Andy, Avita, Casey, and Jack.
For most people, holiday season is the most wonderful time of a year, but for
our family, each day is a emotional torture because each day is just like each
year without seeing our beloved daughter.
Do you still remember what happened to our family three years ago (January 28,
2001)? That was Anna Mae's second birthday and we were trying to celebrate
her birthday at the Bakers' house, but we spent only ten minutes with our
daughter and then Mr. Baker called the local police to remove us from his house
and from Anna Mae because we asked to have a picture taken of our entire family.
Since then we have not been able to see her any more despite our consistent
efforts and attempts.
Soon after we were kicked out of the Bakers' house, Judge Alissandratos issued
two weird court orders: "no contact" to us and "legal
guardianship" to Mr. Baker. After that, Judge Alissandratos shifted
the burden of proof and required us to pass a series of harsh tests to prove
that we are fit parents before he could even consider our visitation request.
Three years of separation from our daughter is a very, very long time for us,
especially for Casey, referred to as "mother bear" of Anna Mae.
Casey is a very, very good mother and takes very good care of her two other
children, Andy and Avita. She NEVER smokes, drinks, uses drugs, spends
extra money for herself, or any other vices. We don't know why Judge
Alissandratos has been so mean to this Chinese mother.
We think Casey is a very unfortunate victim of the Shelby County Judicial
system.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
Jack and Casey He
An unfortunate Chinese couple
