Foster- Adopter- Step Parent Page
Mary Callahan is an author of two
books, an emergency room nurse, and a foster parent in Maine, a state forced to
confront the failures of its Department of Human Services (DHS) when
five-year-old Logan Marr was taken from her mother, Christie, only to die in
foster care, bound to a high chair with 42 feet of duct tape.
The foster mother was convicted of manslaughter.
Petition- STOP FOSTER PARENT ABUSE
Body of Petition:
This petition is designed with foster parents in mind. Many times false
allegations of abuse and neglect are made against foster parents by the children
in their care.
The protocol followed by social service agencies nationwide is to believe the
foster child who has made an allegation. The child can lie and not be held
accountable for lying. It is up to the foster parent to prove the allegations
are false, but because of a flawed system that dictates that a report made by a
foster child is confidential, when an allegation is made against a foster
parent, the actual facts of the report are not shared with the accused because
of confidentiality.
How can you defend yourself against an unknown?
