When push comes to shovel

State social-service bureaucrats accuse a small, rural religious school of child abuse, citing its disciplinary emphasis on manual labor and corporal punishment. In most cases, an overmatched, underfunded school would have to cave in. But Heartland Christian Academy is hardly typical. The school is bankrolled by an insurance multimillionaire who hasn't forgotten his rural roots, and "Pastor Charlie," as he's known, points to a record of success in helping steer some of the toughest wayward kids onto the straight and narrow. And he vows to use his vast resources to fight a battle other similar schools won't—or can't.

The Heartland CPS Invasion VIDEO

FYI,
This is not just a Christian school, but a Christian boarding/day school mainly for highly troubled children who have huge problems with trust.  These kids have huge emotional problems and come from all over the country, and their parents are nowhere nearby to come and help them with emotional trauma following this type of ordeal.  It was really a ROTTEN thing to do to these kids.

In his 91 page opinion, Judge Webber described the scene of the mass-removal of 115 students on October 30, 2001, as "surreal, as if captured in some totalitarian state or on a movie set." (p. 53) Judge Webber notes that "this ill-conceived, poorly executed tearing away of these children from an environment where they obviously felt safe and protected is alarming to watch by even a casual observer." (p. 72). He also noted that "anything positive about the removal has escaped the attention of the Court." (p. 61).

Judge Webber stated that on November 5, 2001, while viewing the video tape of the October 30th mass-removal, "it was necessary for the undersigned to reposition the chair in such fashion to turn away from the view of those in the courtroom and watch the events from another monitor, to avoid disclosing the emotions that the video provoked." (p. 52).

If you watch this video about the mass-removal of 115 students.  You will understand why it is so important to tape every interaction with social workers and why this case was speedily handled through the court system.
