Lesser-known and recognized are the social control functions of welfare departments and child welfare services and the role the case record plays in controlling the behavior of those receiving service. ...To make prisons, mental hospitals, and welfare agencies appear benign, that is, morally and affectively neutral, illusions of treatment, rehabilitation, and retraining must be defended vigorously. Case records. criminal records, psychiatric records, and official statistics are the evidence most frequently cited to justify the continued mandate of' the service organization and the continued infringements on basic freedoms of the people served. ...The spell created by words is at once the most obvious and the most difficult aspect of case records to explore. The nineteenth-century aphorism, "A man is his word or the words used about him," seems to have been lost in the rush of each profession to develop a terminology and tradition of its own. Bledstein credited much of' the success of professionalisrn's rise to its ability to convince rich and poor alike of' their respective areas of expertise through the medium of print. Snopes.com lists this site as a hoax. It does cause one to wonder where the information from desperate, wealthy terminally ill people or pervert "sex tourists" who might apply to this site- actually goes. Nonetheless, kids ARE disappearing all over the world and organ traffickers do make the news once in a while. Which has caused us to wonder- Where are the US kids going when they "disappear" from foster carceration, never to be heard from again. Yes, we do believe CPS is that evil. |

By Sarah Womack, Social Affairs Correspondent Last Updated: 2:43am BST 07/04/2008 London Telegraph Britain is suffering from an epidemic of family breakdowns affecting all levels of society from the Royal family downwards, one of the country's most senior judges will say today. Mr Justice Coleridge, who presided over the preliminary divorce hearings of Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills, will accuse Gordon Brown of prioritising the abolition of plastic bags over support for families, and say the Government is "fiddling while Rome burns". "Family breakdown is at all levels of society - from the Royal family downwards," he will say. "Without being in any way over-dramatic or alarmist, my prediction would be that the effects of family breakdown on the life of the nation, and ordinary people, in this country will, within the next 20 years, be as marked and as destructive as the effects of global warming. "We are experiencing a period of family meltdown whose effects will be as catastrophic as the meltdown of the ice caps." Judges are witnessing a "never-ending carnival" of human misery, and almost all of society's social ills can be traced back to the collapse in family stability, he says. Many single mothers do a good job, but thousands of children are being raised by women who have several children by several fathers, none of whom stick around. The judge, who has 37 years of experience of family law and is Family Division Liaison judge in the south-west legal circuit, stretching from Hampshire to Cornwall, will speak in Brighton at the annual conference of Resolution, which represents 5,000 family lawyers. His intervention - one of the most strongly worded of its kind by a serving judge in recent years - comes as new figures show marriage levels are at their lowest since 1862, and the number of children living with a single parent has doubled in 20 years. Lawyers say family courts are overstretched to the point of collapse. Mr Justice Coleridge, 58, who is married with a daughter and two sons, is expected to say that the family justice system - comprising social workers, local authorities, mental health specialists and legal experts - is all that stands between the present dire situation and "social anarchy".

I was cheering the judge all the way to here. Here is where
he goes all wrong-headed. Social Workers, mental health and legal
experts ARE THE CAUSE AND THE PROBLEM because they are New Age morons.
If anybody wants to FIX IT, undo the "progress" of Secular
Humanism, starting with the government schools. By the way, global
warming is baloney. The breakdown of families is too real.
Maybe that IS his point. Hard to tell exactly what a Briton really
means, especially a judge-type one.)

By any method of counting we incarcerate more of our citizens than any other country in the world. Even China has fewer total prisoners than the US, and China’s per capita rate is also much smaller than the US rate. Yes my friends, even China has less criminals in jail than we do. Surprised? ....I invited a criminal defense attorney to speak to a class of 8th grade students in a private school a few years ago. He was a parent of one of the children and after he was done he recommended another parent who was also a defense attorney to speak; and I gave that other attorney equal time. The talks by both men were simply amazing. They both eventually got to the fact that over 97 percent of the cases in our town are settled by plea bargain. Both had stories of men who pleaded guilty to avoid trail even though they were innocent. These stories would immediately get the attention of the children, "why would someone say they were guilty when they were not"? ...We were told that it is a fiction that the government will not retaliate against you if you demand your constitutional right to a jury trail in a criminal case. That was the most shocking statement of the day to my young charges. The class and I were left with the distinct impression that the courts were rigged to fill jails and that justice was not on the agenda. When one of the children asked, "how is that fair?"; the answer was that the fair came to town in October and was at the fairgrounds on west Highway 50. This seems to be a well-known joke among lawyers, but it was a real comedown for the children and myself. Joseph Potter lives in Florida and teaches in a small private school. Full Story-
